Easy DIY Deck Privacy Wall

Winter was way too long this year but we are living for the warmer weather that’s started to creep back in. There’s truly no better way to mark the warmer seasons than to tackle an outdoor project. I always get questions on the privacy wall that I built around my deck and it’s still one of my favorite parts of my outdoor space. It deserves it’s own moment to shine in the sun. Take a look at how I did it!

Materials

First thing’s first, I bribed my dad to help me install these posts directly into the deck with lag screws.

I made sure they were level by using shims where we needed to.

 Next I cut treated boards with my miter saw.

Then we slid them into the grooves in the posts and spaced them apart using the metal spacers that came with the posts and the system.

I really wanted to pre-stain these boards but Mother Nature had other plans so instead I just sprayed them with stain once they were installed.

Last we filled any gaps and capped them off.

After a few years of this privacy wall being up it looks the same as the day that I installed it and I’m still so stoked about it. I am so ready to use my outdoor space more now that the weather is cooperating.
