Article Holme Drop Leaf Dining Table Review (2026)
In my last apartment I made the very self-sacrificing decision to forgo a dining table. I was convinced that it wouldn’t fit in the small space, so I decided to use the room for a bigger couch instead. But after years of eating meals at my coffee table (and forcing friends to crowd around it when hosting) I deeply regretted that decision. So when I moved into my current apartment I vowed that I’d have a real dining table, like an actual adult — no matter my space constraints. That’s when I found Article’s new Holme Drop Leaf Dining Table.
The Holme dining table ended up ticking every box. It’s stylish with a small footprint, and the two drop leaves allow it to seat up to four people (perfect for hosting!). I feel like I’m righting the wrongs of my apartment past every time I sit at it. So take my advice: Do not skip the dining table if you can help it, and consider the Holme table instead. Here’s why.
Design Features That Stand Out
I reviewed Article’s Holme Kitchen Island when I visited its flagship store earlier this year, and the Holme Drop Leaf Dining Table has a similar Scandinavian simplicity. It features chunky, rounded legs, curved corners, and a smooth oak finish that adds an understated cool factor to my dining area.
The Holme table is also the perfect size for tiny dining nooks. When it’s unextended, it’s a compact 27-inch square that comfortably seats two people. And with the two drop-leaf extensions, it expands to a 48-inch-wide rectangle that can seat up to four. Simply slide out the supports underneath each drop leaf, and you’ve got instant space for hosting, homework, games, and more. You can also position the table with one of the leaves against the wall to save space, and only extend one side for a little extra wiggle room. You have options!
I’ll admit that I’m not the handiest when it comes to assembling furniture, so I opted for Article’s White Glove delivery service. However, the tabletop conveniently comes with the extensions already installed, so all you need to do is attach the legs. The whole thing came together in under 20 minutes and completely transformed our small, humble dining area.
The table is the first thing you see when coming up the stairs into our apartment, and now it looks like grown-ups live here! It fits the small space perfectly and truly looks even more stylish and elevated in person. I adore the rounded corners, and I can feel the subtle grain in the solid and veneered white oak. It’s not super-heavy, either; I can reposition it easily on my own, and pulling it away from the wall to extend both leaves requires basically no effort, which is exactly what I want when we’re hosting friends and family. When the table is fully extended, I have even managed to squeeze six people cozily around it, although four truly is the sweet spot for maximum comfort.
Its surface area offers plenty of room for my husband and me during everyday meals, and I honestly relish mealtimes now (which I never did before when we were eating on the couch). I love being able to set the table and give our home-cooked meals the presentation they deserve. Plus, we’ll sometimes only extend the outer leaf to give us a bit more room for board games or puzzles — and I love having that flexibility!
Should YOU Buy the Holme Drop Leaf Dining Table?
Before you give up on having a dining table in your small space, I think you should absolutely consider the Holme Drop Leaf Dining Table. Its small-space-friendly dimensions and expandable drop-leaf design make it perfect for hosting — even in a small dining nook or living area like mine. And it has that effortlessly cool, Scandinavian look that Article does so well. It makes our apartment feel way more put-together, and it finally ended our cycle of eating on the couch — now everyday meals feel a little more special.
